Gilbert Speaks on “American Horror Story: Apocalypse” S08 E03

29 Sep

I was waiting patiently to find out Mallory’s story, and boy was it worth the wait. On this week’s episode of “American Horror Story” secrets are revealed and people dunk for apples at their own risk.

Forbidden Fruit

Langdon’s (Cody Fern) true nature is revealed in this episode while he continues the interviews. When he gets to mousy Mallory, they both get a shock. As Langdon of the beautiful hair questions Mallory, she confesses that she’s feeling a bit off. Mallory feels like there is something inside her, but when she tries to leave, Langdon grabs her arm and that is when the fireworks start, and I mean fire works! Mallory is able to start fires. Langdon, not one to be outdone, reveals his true persona via an ugly demon. When Langdon asks who she is, Mallory doesn’t have an answer…but I know.

Unnerved by Mallory, Langdon makes a long distance call to daddy dearest via pentagram and blood. The Devil sends snakes to comfort his son.
While Venable and Mead (Kathy Bates) prepare a Masquerade Ball for the survivors, Brock stumbles upon a few survivors arguing over the best way to roast a human leg. Brock (Billy Eichner) is badly scarred and he is searching for Coco. After doing away with the survivors, Brock hitches a ride on a horse-drawn carriage.

Mead

A robot with a conscious. Mead is surprised that she has all these human memories, but she swears her loyalty to Venable as news of a carriage sends them outside. The carriage is empty except for a box filled with delicious apples. No one notices Brock hiding under the carriage. While Mead and Venable make wicked plans for the apples, Brock kills one of Venable’s henchwomen.

Coco

Leslie Grossman does one hell of a great job with her snooty character. As she constantly puts down Mallory, Coco has Gallant do her hair into a classic Marie Antoinette style. When Mallory mentions that she almost set Langdon ablaze, Coco doesn’t believe her. At the party, the guests are encouraged to dance, and Coco dances with a masked man who she mistakes for Langdon. Once in her bedroom, Coco offers the mystery man a special treat, but Brock pulls off his mask.

Conclusion

As an angry Brock plunges a knife into Coco’s skull, Venable and Mead watch everyone die from eating the poisoned apples. It’s a messing death. They only have one more person to take care of, but Venable and Mead learn who truly controls Mead. Langdon tells both ladies an emotional, for him at least, story. Langdon is the original programmer for Mead, and the memories that Mead has of caring for a little boy belong to Constance (Jessica Lange). Mead is definitely under the control of Langdon and Venable gets the bullet meant for Langdon.

The highlight of this episode came at the very end when three hooded figures enter the outpost to find everyone dead. When they remove their hoods, we find our favorite coven. Cordelia Goode (Sarah Paulson) tells Madison (Emma Roberts) and Myrtle (Frances Conroy) to “Find our sisters.”

Mallory (Billie Lourd), Coco, and Dinah (Adina Porter) are brought back to life, then Madison points at Mallory and says, “Surprise bitch.” This is going to be one hell of a season.
