Gilbert Speaks on “The Expanse”

9 Feb

Last year, I had the pleasure of reviewing Syfy’s newest hit series, “The Expanse” on Biff Bam Pop. The show is cutting edge with both the script and the cast. You can most likely catch up on S01 on demand and, you can read my weekly reviews of S01, here. Why am I recommending this show? Find out after the jump

We’ll eventually colonize space and when we do it won’t be for some idealist dream of finding new adventures as Captain Kirk so innocently claimed on the Star Trek series in 1966 When we do ‘go where no man has gone before’ it will be business as usual as corporations search for precious rare metals that can net them trillions of dollars.

This is the premise for “The Expanse” and the series does a rather great job of showing how a corporate run U.N on Earth controls the very survival on the people living and working the asteroid belt. The people on the Belt feel neglected and betrayed by the authorities on Earth. They are mostly ignored unless there is a problem with the delivery of the much valued cargo to Earth.

If there is a rebellion on the Belt, the military power on Mars is sent in to swiftly eliminate all dissenters. But something is happening on Eros that will affect the survival of all living matter. The blue protomolecules is infecting everyone and it’s up to the crew of Rocinante: Holden, Naomi, Alex, Amos, along with the Tycho Station’s Fred Johnson and Joe Miller an ex-cop from Ceres Station to save the day.

Do yourself a favor and start watching “The Expanse” on Wednesday nights at 10 pm.

The crew of Rocinante is expecting you and, the people of Earth, Mars and the Asteroid Belt desperately need your help.
