Gilbert Speaks on Netflix’s The OA

17 Dec

Holy Gripping Plots! There is a new series on Netflix and I can’t wait to see it. The OA is a mysterious new drama that is written and produced by Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij. It stars Marling as Prairie, a young woman who disappeared seven years ago. She’s back and no longer blind. Where has she been and what are the strange marks on her back? Meet me after the jump.

The OA is an American science fiction drama that consists of eight episodes, which are all directed by Zal Batmanglij. The series centers on Prairie (Brit Marling) an adopted blind child who reappears after missing for seven years. She calls herself, The OA and she is now able to see. Prairie refuses to tell anyone, including family and police, where she’s been.

Instead, Prairie gathers a small group of people to join her inner circle. Only these people know where she’s been and that there are others like her that need their help. The series also co-stars Jason Isaacs, Alice KrigeEmory Cohen, Phyllis Smith and Scott Wilson who we remember and love as Hershel from The Walking Dead.

If The OA is as well produced as Stranger Things, then we are in for a great ride and Netflix has another award winning show under its belt.

I will be posting weekly reviews of the eight episodes here on Gilbert Speaks…watch for the reviews here.
